The Problem: You turn on your Acer laptop and see a black screen saying "No Bootable Device."

The Short Answer: This usually means your laptop's BIOS settings have reset or it cannot find your hard drive. 90% of the time, changing the Boot Mode to "Legacy" fixes it instantly.

Method 1: Change Boot Mode (Try This First)

This is the most common reason for this error, especially after a battery drain.

  1. Turn off your laptop completely.
  2. Turn it on and immediately tap F2 repeatedly until the BIOS screen appears.
  3. Use the arrow keys to go to the Boot tab.
  4. Find Boot Mode. If it says UEFI, press Enter and change it to Legacy.
  5. Press F10 to Save & Exit.

Your laptop should now restart and load Windows normally.

Method 2: Check Hard Drive Connection

If Method 1 didn't work, your hard drive might be loose. This can happen if you dropped your laptop recently.

Note: Only do this if you are comfortable opening your laptop.

  • Unscrew the back panel.
  • Locate the hard drive (rectangular box).
  • Push it firmly into its connector.

Method 3: Reset BIOS to Default

Sometimes the BIOS just needs a reset.

  1. Enter BIOS (tap F2 at startup).
  2. Go to the Exit tab.
  3. Select Load Setup Defaults.
  4. Press F10 to Save & Exit.
