The Problem: Your computer tower fans are spinning, and lights are on, but the monitor is black and says "No Signal."

The Short Answer: The monitor is working, but it isn't receiving video data. This is usually due to loose RAM sticks or a loose graphics card.

Method 1: Reseat RAM (Most Likely)

If you moved your PC recently, the RAM sticks might have wiggled slightly loose.

  1. Turn off PC and unplug it.
  2. Open the side panel.
  3. Push down the tabs on your RAM sticks to release them.
  4. Take them out, then push them back in until you hear a loud CLICK.
  5. Try turning it on.

Method 2: Check HDMI Cable Source

Are you plugged into the motherboard or the graphics card?

  • If you have a dedicated GPU, you must plug the HDMI into the GPU (the lower horizontal slots).
  • If you plug it into the top vertical slot (motherboard), it might be disabled.

Method 3: Reset BIOS (CMOS)

Clear the motherboard settings.

  • Unplug PC.
  • Locate the small silver coin battery on the motherboard.
  • Remove it for 5 minutes.
  • Put it back in and turn on.
