The Problem: You are working on your PC and it suddenly crashes to a blue screen with the code CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED.
The Short Answer: This means a background process essential to Windows (like svchost.exe) has stopped unexpectedly. It is usually caused by a buggy driver or a corrupt system file.
Method 1: Update Your Drivers
Most blue screens are driver-related. Since you might crash again, try to do this quickly or boot into Safe Mode first.
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Look for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark.
- Right-click them and select Update driver.
- Also, update your Display adapters (Graphics card).

Method 2: Run an SFC Scan
System File Checker can find if a Windows file is corrupt and replace it.
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Type
sfc /scannowand press Enter. - This process takes about 10-15 minutes. Do not close the window until it finishes.
Method 3: System Restore
If this started happening recently, go back in time.
- Search for Create a restore point in the Start menu.
- Click System Restore.
- Choose a date before the crashes started happening.
