Ghost touch or unresponsive screen? Don't panic. This is usually static buildup or a software glitch, not a broken screen. Clean your screen thoroughly with a cloth, remove any case, and perform a Force Restart (Vol Up, Vol Down, Hold Power) to reset the digitizer calibration.

  • Static Buildup: Electricity can confuse the capacitive sensors.
  • Screen Protector: Cheap protectors warp and press incorrectly.
  • Software Crash: The touch driver service has frozen.
  • Storage Full: System cannot process touch inputs.

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Clean and Free the Screen: Remove your case and screen protector. Wipe the screen vigorously with a microfiber cloth to discharge static.
  2. Force Restart (The Reset): Press Volume Up, then Volume Down, then HOLD the Side Button. Keep holding until the Apple Logo appears. This reboots the touch drivers.
  3. disconnect Accessories: Unplug any Lightning/USB-C cables or headphones. Faulty cables can cause "grounding" issues that disable touch.
  4. Update via Computer: If you can't touch to update, plug into a PC/Mac. Open iTunes/Finder and select "Update" to reinstall iOS without data loss.
