The Problem: Your Android phone is sluggish, or a specific app keeps crashing or acting weird.

The Short Answer: "Cache" is just temporary files that apps save to load faster. Over time, these files get corrupted. Deleting them is safe—it does not delete your photos, messages, or logins.

Method 1: Clear Specific App Cache

Use this if a single app (like Instagram or Chrome) is freezing.

IMPORTANT NOTE Make sure you tap "Clear Cache" and NOT "Clear Storage" (or Clear Data). Clear Storage will erase your login and reset the app to factory settings.
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Apps (or Apps & notifications).
  3. Tap See all apps.
  4. Select the problem app.
  5. Tap Storage & cache.
  6. Tap Clear Cache button (the trash can icon).

Method 2: Use Files by Google

Use this to speed up the entire phone by removing junk files from all apps at once.

PRO TIP Most Android phones come with "Files by Google" pre-installed. If you don't have it, it is the only cleaner app we recommend downloading from the Play Store.
  1. Open the Files by Google app.
  2. Tap the Clean tab at the bottom left.
  3. Tap Clean next to "Junk files".
  4. Confirm and wait for it to finish.

Still Not Fixed?

If clear cache didn't help, you might need to uninstall and reinstall the app completely.
