Fix iPhone Camera Not Working

The Problem: You open the Camera app, and the preview is just black. Or the app freezes instantly.

The Short Answer: If the flashlight still works, this is a software crash. If the flashlight is also broken, your rear camera hardware is likely disconnected.

Method 1: Check the Flashlight (The Test)

The camera and flash are engaged on the same circuit.

• Swipe down to Control Center.
• Tap the Flashlight icon.
• If it turns on: Good! It's just a software glitch. Proceed to Method 2.
• If it doesn't turn on: Your camera module is physically broken or loose. You need a repair shop.

Method 2: Force Close App

1. Swipe up from the bottom and hold to see open apps.
2. Swipe the Camera app up to close it.
3. Re-open it.

Method 3: Switch Cameras

Sometimes switching between Front and Back mode unfreezes the shutter.

• Open Camera.
• Tap the Rotate Camera icon repeatedly.
